The primary responsibility of this role is to safely operate a commercial vehicle to transport and deliver equipment, goods, and materials to and from designated locations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Hauling Materials
Operating heavy-duty dump trucks to transport construction materials to and from active job sites safely and efficiently.
Moving Heavy Equipment
Driving specialized flatbeds or lowboy trailers to transport heavy construction machinery such as pavers, rollers, excavators, and skid steers between project sites.
Load Securement
Properly loading materials and securing heavy machinery using chains, binders, and tension straps to ensure secure transit and absolute compliance with highway safety regulations.
Site Navigation
Maneuvering large transport trucks safely through tight, congested, or uneven construction site terrain while staying alert to active ground crews and other equipment operations.
DOT Inspections
Conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections of vehicles and trailers (brakes, tires, lighting, and mechanical systems) to maintain peak operational readiness.
Routine Maintenance
Performing basic preventative fleet care, including checking/topping off fluids, greasing joints, and keeping truck cabins and exteriors in clean, professional order.
Record Keeping
Accurately maintaining daily electronic and paper DOT logs detailing active driving hours, project mileage, and the specific weight or type of materials hauled.
Safety Adherence
Maintaining strict compliance with federal Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines, OSHA rules, company safety mandates, and wearing all required PPE at all times.
Position Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a clean driving record, a strong understanding of federal and state transportation regulations, and a commitment to on-time, safe deliveries.
A Class A CDL is required if you are hauling heavy equipment, operating large dump trucks, or driving vehicles pulling trailers.
You must pass a Department of Transportation physical and maintain a valid medical card.
You must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol tests, as well as a criminal background check.
A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
5+ years of commercial driving experience.
Willingness to strictly adhere to all OSHA and company safety guidelines.
Must be dependable to work a 40-hour week which could include overtime and some weekends.
