The Foreman/Team Lead is responsible for overseeing and working alongside field crews on diverse construction sites. This role manages the daily operations of projects ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the company’s quality standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
Site Assessment
Assess job sites prior to work, identifying utilities, drainage issues, and staging areas. Act as the primary on-site liaison between the crew, project managers, and residential/commercial clients.
Material & Equipment
Coordinate with the project manager and inspect all material deliveries to prevent workflow delays and identify damaged goods, shortages and/or overages. Track company tools and heavy equipment on-site, ensuring routine maintenance is performed and everything is securely stored.
Crew Management
Assign daily tasks to in-house labor and apprentices based on the project schedule and individual skill levels. Track the productivity of the crew and subcontractors, ensuring milestones are met on time.
Quality & Compliance
Inspect all work in progress to ensure it meets company quality and specification standards. Ensure all construction complies with local residential and commercial building codes, zoning laws, and ADA requirements for commercial projects.
Safety Leadership
Conduct daily safety talks to crews to ensure proper PPE usage and immediately correct any on-site safety hazards. Maintain a culture of safety-first across all operations.
Documentation & Tools
Log daily progress, labor hours, and material usage. Demonstrate proficiency with a wide range of power tools, laser levels, measurement instruments, and heavy machinery (skid steers, forklifts, etc.).
Leadership & Morale
Command respect, motivate diverse crews, and maintain high morale during difficult or demanding project phases. Lead by example to foster a productive and professional work environment.
Problem Solving
Quick, analytical thinking to resolve on-site discrepancies without halting production. Strict adherence to project schedules, with the ability to foresee potential delays and adjust workflows proactively.
Position Requirements
Foreman candidate should have a minimum of 2+ years of hands-on construction experience, with a proven track record in both residential and commercial projects.
Team Lead candidate should have a minimum of 2+ years in a supervisory/team lead role with hands-on construction experience, with a proven track record in both residential and commercial projects.
Safety or other certifications are highly preferred.
Must have valid Class D driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation. CDL Class A License preferred.
You must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol tests, as well as a criminal background check.
A High School Diploma or GED is preferred. Must be dependable to work a 40-hour week which could include overtime and some weekends.
Ability to work outdoors in various and often extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain). The ability to perform manual labor, lift 50+ pounds, and stand or walk for entire shifts.
Use and operate construction equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, skid steers, graders, loaders, etc. when needed.
